Ravenwood Hall Hotel is a grand 16th century Tudor hotel just outside of Bury St Edmunds, set in 7 acres of land with stunning gardens, pool, summer house and pavilion it provides everything you need for your perfect day.
Back in May we had the great honour of organising and designing a photo shoot at this wonderful venue, accompanied by some of the very best suppliers in the area.
The sun shone on our fairytale mock wedding showcasing everything Ravenwood Hall Hotel has to offer and at its very best; its versatility, welcoming feel and timeless appeal. Along with stunning work, displays and items supplied by a network of local wedding companies our models Lily and Chris had the best time and such fun posing as a happy couple on a wedding day! Our photographer Andrew Chambers and his wife Michelle were simply inundated with amazing photo opportunities and inspiration throughout the day.
The day was started with coffee and French pastries and then off the ‘Saxon Room’, one of 3 bridal suites Ravenwood has to offer, for make-up, hair and final touches.
We chose two beautiful dresses and quite a few lovely accessories all from Bury Bridal Rooms. A stunning organza ball gown by Ella Rosa, a backless lace mermaid by Kenneth Winston, a cathedral length veil which sparkled with diamante detailing, pearl and diamante comb/tiara and a bird cage veil.
Sharron from Elegant Hair & Beauty created two looks for our lovely model Lily; subtle elegance with the ball gown and cathedral length veil and modern chic to compliment the lace backless mermaid with bird cage veil.
Our ‘groom for the day’ Chris had two very fetching suits to wear both from Gerald Boughton; a grey 3 piece and a traditional tails with pin stripe trousers, accompanied by ivory and gold accessories.
Inside the Tudor House there is an ambulance of photo opportunities and beautiful backdrops be it the opulently decorated bedrooms, bar, snug area or quant tranquil dining rooms. Although grand, Ravenwood never feels imposing or over the top, just a welcoming warm, homely feel.
Ravenwoods versatility is no better shown then with their many options for your ceremony; an outside wedding under the summer house, an intimate get together in their dining room or a larger party in their timeless and vintage look pavilion, there is something for everyone.
The summer house is our particular favourite with its grapevine isle and garden back drop, it feels very intimate but can still seat 100 guests for your ceremony.
The pavilion looked stunning, all set up for a wedding breakfast, with our peaches and cream colour scheme and fairytale look but with that all important modern feel. Ravenwoods’ own Candelabras looked fabulous as centre pieces draped in pearls and accompanied by floral decorations from the English Rose Florist, stationery handmade by ourselves, Angelic Wedding & Events, and finished off with sashes, lace and floral detailing from Saxon Street Hire which looked superb teamed with Ravenwoods’ own chair covers.
Using peach and ivory tones we created place setting tags and drop pearl bird cage place-settings, menu cards displayed with shabby chic cup and saucers on vintage books and table numbers on artist board which stood on wooden easels. The overall look was finished with miniature glass jam jar favours filled with mints and drinks tokens placed in wine glasses. Matching table plan sections were mounted to our ornate mirror which looked stunning as a backdrop and worked very well with Ravenwoods’ own gold ornate easel.
There was also lots of fun, fun, fun…. with ice-cream from the wonderful Alder Tree and their stunning vintage Morris Van and a game of croquet on the lawn.
