You're Engaged! Congratulations!

Congratulations you’re engaged

So the countdown begins towards your very special day marrying the partner you love and solidifying your relationship together.

Many have dreamed of their wedding day since they were little, some may have only started thinking about it once they have meet that special person, either way your wedding day will be at the forefront of your plans and day to day decision making for the foreseeable.

So what do you do now?

Firstly think about how long you want your engagement to be? The average engagement is around 18 months nowadays.

Then chat with your partner and family about what your ideal day looks like.

Then consider the following;

Season/Time of year

Location – immediate area/local, in the UK, or abroad

Size – Intimate or larger affair

What type of ceremony – religious, civil or humanist

Your main priorities

Budget

Who you would like to help you plan

Your wedding party, Bridesmaids, Best man, Ushers etc

Will you need a hired wedding planner or coordinator on the day

Any particular dates that are ideal or special too you

Theme, colour scheme, style and inspirations

Once you are ready to look at venues and booking a date try attending local wedding fairs and open days to gauge the type of venues available, local suppliers and costs.

Consider a subscription to a few wedding magazines, our favourites are You & Your Wedding Magazine and Wedding Ideas.

Create a scrap book and a folder or file to collect literature and magazine clippings.

Create a Pinterest board (remember to keep it ‘secret’) and pin any wedding ideas that inspire you. Remember not to get carried away with Pinterest, be realistic as many of the images are highly styled and extremely lavish and it may not be possible to replicate exactly, especially if you are on a budget.

Lastly; enjoy every minute of your engagement.

Happy planning
